Chief McCurdy’s Superbowl Safety & Winter Driving Precautions

by Tonya McNamara - February 11, 2022

There is a lot of fun coming up this weekend with Valentines Day and the Super Bowl. Chief McCurdy of the Blossburg Police Department wants everyone to arrive home safely after their celebrations.

“This weekend is Valentine’s Day and Super Bowl,” said Chief McCurdy. “It is important for us to make sure when we are going out to dinner with our loved ones that we stay responsible. If necessary, get a friend to be your designated driver after having a few drinks with dinner or pizza and wings while watching the game.”

In addition to the holiday precautions, Chief McCurdy also encourages drivers to clean their cars of snow.

“With 6 more weeks of winter ahead of us, remember to completely clean the snow and ice off your car before hitting the road,” said Chief McCurdy. “All over the county we are seeing damage to windshields and car hoods from flying snow and ice off trucks and cars. If you are the one at fault you may be charged, and your insurance rates may increase. Also, when during a snowstorm, please stay off the roads to allow the state and boroughs to clear off the roads so we can drive safely, if you must drive, please use caution and take your time.”

If you need immediate help, the best way to contact the Blossburg Police Department is to call 911. If you would like to contact them and it is NOT an emergency, you may leave a message on their landline – 570-638-3143.

The Blossburg Police Department is located at 241 Main Street Blossburg at the lower level and back side of the borough office building off Carpenter Street.
