Chief Bodine Urges Motorists To Remember These Winter Driving Tips
Police Chief Jim Bodine joined Home Page Vice-President Sara Vogt in the studio to discuss driving wisely this winter. His first recommendation is for motorists to slow down and add extra time to get to their destination. His second is to preplan our trip by adding essential items in our cars such as blankets, boots, extra winter clothing, and protective items.
He mentioned,” It is more important in rural areas because our cell phones do not work in these areas, so you cannot call out. And more remote roads where vehicles aren’t passing up and down through there on a lot of these roads for someone to help you. So we have to preplan and take the extra time to get where we are going.”
Chief addressed what to do if we slide off the road and find ourselves stuck in a snowbank. First, turn on the flashers to warn other motorists that you are disabled. Secondly, make sure the snowbank does not block the car’s airflow, so the exhaust does not go into the vehicle’s cabin.
