Chamber Highlights – My Neighbors’ Closet

Local store trains individuals with intellectual disabilities

by Amiee Jones, , - March 8, 2017

The Mansfield Chamber of Commerce is made of an array of businesses that collectively provide all of the services you could need. Today, let’s look at a Mansfield gem that offers consignment shopping, locally made goods, laundry services and more. My Neighbors Closet is full of treasures across a wide range of categories, for incredible prices.

Upon entering the store the amiable staff will greet you. Then, your shopping experience begins! My Neighbors Closet presents multiple racks of new and gently used clothing, as well as, kitchen and houseware items. Additionally, you can find home décor, books, toys, and helium balloons. Locally made goods are also available, including Highland Chocolates, Mill Street Popcorn, Sip for Sight coffee, Wilson’s Maple Syrup, and Orchowski’s Honey. The store also provide an on site laundry service. My Neighbors Closet certainly affords an extensive retail experience to the Mansfield community!

My Neighbors Closet is a piece of Partners In Progress, a non-profit corporation dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to succeed. The Partners In Progress participants who work for My Neighbor’s Closet are receiving job training for a career in a retail setting. A Partners In Progress participant shared a few of her job requirements as a sales associate, including steaming the clothes, working the register, organizing/replacing the clothes on the racks, and more. My Neighbor’s Closet’s affiliation with Partners In Progress is a meaningful, defining characteristic of this local prize.

For more information about My Neighbors Closet, visit their Facebook page, or stop in shop: 382 S Main Street, Mansfield. And, for more information about Partners In Progress, visit their website.
