Chamber Highlights: Celebrating Winter & The Lives of Locals

by Sara Vogt - January 18, 2022

Director of the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce Julie Henry joined Home Page Vice-President Sara Vogt in the studio to highlight an upcoming event in February called the Winter Celebration. This celebration is happening on the weekend of the 11th through the 13th.

Once again, there will be artists carving in ice around town for you to watch and enjoy—six opportunities for you to wonder as you watch what the ice becomes! Julie said that one of the six would be larger than the others, thanks to someone sponsoring it.

This family-fun affair has many opportunities for you to get outside and walk through the beautiful town of Wellsboro, sampling chili as you go at the participating downtown businesses.

Sara also shared with Julie about the passing of Helen Foster. While Sara was shopping at Dunham’s, Ann Dunham Rawson told her that Helen had passed last week. Helen was the cheerful staff member who greeted many of us for the past 25 years who came to the department store, always wanting to assist us in any way she could with a smile. She became a family staff member to the Dunham family.

We have listed her obituary here for more information about Helen’s life.

Sara and Julie also discussed the importance of shopping locally and knowing and caring for one another in the community. There are many businesses at this time that are looking to hire, so you too can have the opportunity to become someone to greet locals and visitors alike.

Please stop by the Wellsboro Chamber office at 114 Main Street for more information on the area, pick up some brochures, and say hello to Julie and her staff.
