Canton Warriors Defeat Troy Trojans Wrestling, 56-9

CANTON — The Canton Warriors defeated the Troy Trojans 56-9 in NTL wrestling action on Thursday, Jan. 20.

The match started at 113 with Cohen Landis earning a fall over Troy’s Renzo at three minutes into the match.

The Warriors would take the next two matches with Cayden Miller getting a 7-3 decision over Troy’s Caleb Schwenk at 120 followed by a Holden Ward fall over Troy’s Kenyon Slater at 126 at two minutes in.

The Trojans got on the board at 132 with a 5-2 decision by Seth Seymour over Canton’s Ryland Sakers.

Canton’s Victor Vazquez earned a fall at 138 over Troy’s Peyton Bellows at one minute 47 seconds.

Hudson Ward and Jacob Hinman battled to a 11-3 major decision at 145 followed by a 13-2 Bailey Ferguson major decision over Troy’s Jared Renzo at 152.

Hayden Ward picked up the victory at the 160 pound mark with a fall over Troy’s Eli Randall at the 1:26 mark in the match.

Canton’s Brennan Taylor picked up the victory by pinning Troy’s Lacey Hinman at 172.

The Warriors would take the next three weight classes with Riley Parker earning a 4-1 decision over Troy’s Mason Woodward at 189. Conner Davis pinning Troy’s Samuels at 215 and Mason Nelson earning the victory by forfeit at 285.

The Trojans were able to pick up a late match win at 106 with Konner Kerr getting a pin on Canton’s Lyle Vermilya.

The win keeps the Warriors undefeated in team play at 8-0 on the season while the Trojans fall to 3-4 overall.
