On Tuesday, September 3rd the Wellsboro Hornets Cross Country junior and senior high school teams hosted Sayre and Canton. In the junior high meet, Wellsboro’s Kaci Kosek claimed first place for the girls with a time of 13:35.20. Canton girls Sarina Hess and Elizabeth Halbfoerster placed second and third with times of 15:05.88 and 15:36.04. For the Wellsboro Jr High Boys, Taitt Webster claimed first at 14:15.33. And Hornet Austin DeShazo followed second at 14:44.55. Wellsboro’s Jacob Patterson took third at 15:39.20.

In the high school girls race, Wellsboro won by forfeit. Lauren Kosek placed first with a time of 22:21.69. Followed by Sophia Yoder at 29:33.84. And Molly Tice claimed third at 29:36.40.

In the boys race, Canton won with 26 points, followed by Wellsboro at 30 and Sayre forfeiting. Warrior Lawrence Halbfoerster took first place with a time of 18:41.10. Hornet Max Macias claimed second with a time of 19:26.05. Followed shortly by Hornet Henry Whitney with a time of 20:27.02. Canton’s Simon Wile and Manual Halfoerster rounded out the top 5 with times of 21:32.39 and 21:40.84.

The next NTL cross country meet is the Lasagna Invite, taking place in Wyalusing on September 6th.
