Canton Elementary Greenhouse Group Grows Life Skills
The Canton Elementary School Greenhouse Group has been hard at work planting and raising flowers, vegetables, and other plant varieties. Mrs. Ross’ Learning Support class has raised these plants from seedling to maturity, which has allowed the students to get hands-on experience every step of the way. Once the plants are fully grown, they will be sold to Canton Elementary staff members to fund future field trips for Mrs. Ross’ class.
“One of the things we planned for when we started this project was kids learning how to do things that they can use for the rest of their lives,” Learning Support Teacher Deb Fitzwater explained. “The thing we didn’t plan on, but had the biggest effect, is how proud kids can be when they see what they started grow.”
