Black Knights Storm Past Canton, 41-14
On Friday, September 26, the Canton Warriors hosted the Towanda Black Knights under the lights, but the visitors dominated the gridiron with a commanding 41-14 victory.
Towanda struck first late in the opening quarter when Jazick Brown bounced to the outside and sprinted to the pylon. Braden Spencer’s extra point made it 7-0 Black Knights.
Canton responded in the second quarter when Aaden Dowling powered up the middle, briefly lost the ball, but recovered in the end zone for the score. The extra point attempt failed, keeping Towanda ahead 7-6.
The Black Knights extended their lead midway through the quarter. Holder Gabe Wolf handed the ball inside to Curtis Maynard, who charged in for the touchdown. Canton blocked the extra point, but Towanda pushed their advantage to 13-6.
Just before halftime, Maynard struck again from inside the 10-yard line. Spencer’s kick was true, sending the Black Knights into the break with a 20-6 lead.
Towanda continued to roll in the third, driving inside the 5-yard line where Maynard punched in his third touchdown of the night. Spencer added another PAT to stretch the lead to 27-6. The Black Knights piled on two more scores in the second half, finishing with 41 points on the board.
Canton found the end zone once more in the fourth. Owen Moore connected with Leland Tubach on a deep strike from just outside Towanda’s 25-yard line. Moore converted the two-point attempt himself, capping the Warriors’ scoring at 14.
When the final whistle blew, Towanda secured the 41-14 win, improving momentum as they prepare to host the Athens Wildcats next Friday. Canton will look to rebound on the road against the Wyalusing Rams.
