Black Knights Ready to Conquer 2025 Season

by Erik Berggren - August 19, 2025

The Towanda Black Knights are ready for a return to sports, with teams having recently held preseason practices to work off the rust and game plan for this year’s matchups.
Towanda girls soccer finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 7 wins and 10 losses. One of the highlights from last season for the Lady Knights included a nail biting 1-0 victory while away at Wellsboro. This year, new head coach Joshua Maye hopes to lead the Lady Knights to a winning record with a focus on unity and teamwork.

Towanda boys soccer had a similar 2024, with an overall record of 8 and 10 — the most wins for the program in more than a decade. Head coach Tom Lambert looks to continue that upward trend this year with his eyes set on a District IV playoff berth.

Towanda volleyball came out of 2024 with a record of 8 and 12. The team may have fallen short of district playoffs last year, but now has a strong core of veteran players in the junior and seniors classes. This year, head coach Cassie Smith is focusing in on Northern Tier League matchups to help climb the ladder in 2025.

Last, but certainly not least, Towanda football finished 2024 with an overall record of 9 wins and only 3 losses. A highlight of the season was the Bronze Helmet rivalry match against Wyalusing, in which the Black Knights rolled over the Rams with a score of 55 to 0. The 2025 season will be head coach Jamie Wecker’s second year back at the helm, now focused on building bonds with the squad.

Towanda football’s home games would not be the same without the energy of the Black Knights Marching Band and the dazzle of the the K-Dettes dancing team. The band held its preseason band camp from Aug. 4th though the 8th, during which new recruits learned the rhythm and veteran members got a refresh before the start of school. The K-Dettes also got a head start on the year, with members getting together to build camaraderie and practice new routines.
