Becker Prepares for Study Abroad
High school can be an exciting time to expand your communication skills and gain an appreciation for other cultures. Some students even take on the challenge of studying abroad in another country! Audrey Becker, a local high school student, has decided to spend her senior year studying through the Rotary Exchange Program in Normandy, France.
“I’m so excited to meet all the people, try all the new foods, and travel,” Becker stated. “I’m very excited to be able to speak fluent French by the time I come back, and to be a part of such a huge, international community.”
Dr. Richard Black also spoke with us today to give us his perspective on hosting exchange students. “I think we need to be more understanding and more tolerant,” Black said. “There’s so much more that unites us than divides us in this world.” He emphasized the fact that the exchange student program is for those who really feel confident in studying abroad. They must be well rounded – socially, academically, and most of all, hold a strong desire to try.
If you are interested in being an exchange student or hosting an exchange student, Dr. Black can be reached at (570) 724-2141. You can also visit exchangestudent.org. Thank you for watching today’s featured story. Au revoir!
