Ball Drop Offers $5000 Grand Prize

by Lauren Gooch - September 11, 2020

The second annual Tyoga Ball Drop is happening this Saturday, September 12th at the Tyoga Golf Course. The rules are simple: Community members purchase a golf ball for $100. Then, all of the balls are dropped out of a helicopter above the hole, and whoever’s ball is the closest to the hole wins the grand prize of $5,000!

The second place winner will receive $1,000 and the third place winner will receive $500. And, if your ball is the farthest from the hole, you will receive $250!

To purchase a golf ball for your chance to win, contact the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce at (570) 724-1926. Golf balls will be also be available for purchase at the event, right up until the helicopter takes off. You may purchase multiple golf balls if you would like to increase your chance to win.

The event is open to the public and will take place this Saturday, September 12th at the Tyoga Golf Course. Activities and live music will start around 4pm, and the ball drop will take place at approximately 6pm. You don’t need to be present to win (but if the $5,000 winner IS present at the event, they’ll receive an additional $500!).

The money raised from this event will benefit both the Wellsboro Foundation and the Tyoga Golf Course.

A special thank you to all who are helping to make this event possible, especially Huff Builders, UPMC, Penn Oak Realty, the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Tyoga Golf Course.
