2022 Mansfield Citizen of the Year
Patty Hutcheson has been awarded the Max Colegrove Citizen of the Year Award for 2022 following a borough-wide nomination process. The award was created 36 years ago by the Chamber of Commerce and is named after long time business man, Max Colegrove, who exemplified the best characteristics of a civic leader. The selection committee includes members of the Max Colegrove family and other residents in the community.
Patty was born in Blossburg, lived in Covington and graduated from North Penn High School in 1964. That same year she also graduated from Beckman’s Beauty Academy in Williamsport. At the age of 19, Patty married her husband Ben and moved to Mansfield to begin her career as a hairdresser for the community.
Many organizations have benefited from Patty’s commitment including years as an EMT on the Mansfield Ambulance, a member of the BPW (Business and Professional Women which later became the Women’s Club), the Arnot Sportsman’s Club, the VFW and the Catholic Church where she served as the president of the Ladies Guild. Patty also remembers the fun she had as a parent volunteer for things that her children were involved in while they attend Mansfield schools.
A very special coincidence to note, Patty ‘s husband Ben Hutcheson was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award twenty years ago in 2002. Patty enthusiastically shared that “Mansfield is a wonderful place to live and has wonderful people in it.”
Patty will be honored on Friday, May 13 at 6:00 at the Mansfield Fire Hall. Tickets may be purchased through May 5th at the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce or by calling the Chamber office at 570-662-3442. Home Page News congratulates Patty on receiving this prestigious community award!
