by Home Page Staff - September 1, 2018

The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

Hornets overcome slow start to roll past CV
Week one football games usually start out sloppy, and that was the case in the Hornets’ opener against Cowanesque Valley on Friday, August 24.

“We have a lot of guys on the field for the first time and for some its really only their second year playing,” said head coach Matt Hildebrand after his 50th career win. “It think some of that was to be expected but we overcame it and moving forward we can learn from it. We have a lot of good film from tonight and hopefully we’ll start faster next week.”

Decorating Decoded: Universal Design
While the term “universal design” may be new, the concept of barrier-free design that it evolved from is not. Designing spaces to make them more accessible to people with disabilities actually started back in the 1960’s. Then in 1990, Congress passed a law called The Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, which contained some specific legislation that required many businesses and public buildings to install ramps and elevators or make other accommodations to increase accessibility for disabled persons.

Back to Basics – Pursuit of Happiness
Back to Basics is designed to encourage and support our Home Page viewers with a timely word or illustration that helps us to think about and evaluate our lives from an eternal perspective. This month’s message is being presented by Associate Pastor Michael White of the Wellsboro Bible Church.

In 1776, our country was founded on three unalienable rights: life, liberty and happiness (but, you have to pursue it!) The tragic irony is that most people who pursuit happiness as an end in itself never actually find happiness. Today, Pastor White explores what it means to find happiness and what some have done to grasp it.

Movin’ Together – Salad Up!
During our life challenges, we will grab a tool for relief. How does that tool benefit us temporarily or permanently? Each month on the Movin’ Together broadcast we are presenting a healthy tool for us to add to our lives that will help us to handle the stresses of living in a better way!

This month our tool of the salad is enhanced by the varieties of oil, vinegar, and spice found at the Main Street Olive Oil Company on Main Street in Wellsboro, PA. The owner of the shop, Lori Beckwith, has a degree in nutrition which equips her to understand how vital the cold pressed oils are for a healthy diet. To retain all their flavor, aroma, and nutritional value cold pressed oils are not subjected to damaging chemicals or heat. A healthier choice!

Welcome to Live from the Hive!
On today’s broadcast, Home Page correspondent Johanna Vogt visits with Dr. Freeman to find out what’s been buzzing around the Wellsboro Area School District over the summer. During the summer months it’s a time for making plans for the upcoming school year. The administration has not only been working to get the school ready for the new year, but they have also been working on curriculum changes, as well as personnel changes.
