Personal Profiles: Pop’s Culture Shoppe
Pop’s Culture Shoppe, on Main Street in Wellsboro, provides a unique atmosphere and inventory. The space offers games, books, comics, puzzles, toys, etc., and hosts popular game nights and tournaments for the public. Pop’s fills a previously vacant niche in the local community, giving a distinct retail and social experience. Appropriately enough, the road that Julian Stam journeyed to become the owner of the store was unique, as well.

Dr. Mayo – Good Natured Nature
According to a study conducted by a public relations and marketing firm (DJ case and associates), increased use of technology is pulling people away from the outdoors. Spending more time inside, and less time outside is becoming the national norm. Work, school, and living places also seems to discourage time outdoors due to competing activities and priorities demanded in each of these areas. Despite these somewhat depressing results, the majority of Americans who were surveyed about their outdoor attitudes would prefer to be outside more. Interesting development in technological nature does provide some benefit (watching the nature channel, etc.), though it cannot and should not replace our experience with the “real thing”. We receive optimal benefit from interacting with nature, rather than competing with it.

Stayin’ Cool at the Wellsboro Pool!
School is out, and the kids are always looking for something fun to do during the long, hot, summer days. Cool off this summer with a trip to Packer Pool on Queen Street in Wellsboro. Ranging from a 3-foot section all the way to a 12-foot section, this is one of the only Olympic-sized pools in the area! Bring your sun hats, beach balls, and pool noodles for some family fun in the sun.

Each Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm, families are encouraged to come out for “Family Float Sunday,” where they are welcome to bring large rafts and water floats to lay on while in the pool. Kids are even able to hold birthday parties at the pool. The cost is $85 for two hours for up to 20 people. For more information, please contact the pool manager during open swim hours at (570) 724-3650.
