Wellsboro Highlights:03/12/18 – 03/16/18

by Home Page Staff - March 17, 2018

The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

SportsCast – Hornets Cap Fantastic Season
This special edition of Home Page Sports, in association with Circle W Sports, is brought to you by First Citizens Community Bank. On Saturday, March 10 – the Wellsboro Hornets and North Penn-Mansfield Tigers competed in state playoff games. The Hornets faced off against the Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders, while the Tigers traveled to St. Mary to play a revenge game against the Ridgway Elkers.
On behalf of all of us here at Home Page, we’d like to congratulate both teams on their outstanding seasons. Also, once again a huge – thank you – to First Citizens Community Bank for making this coverage possible.

Cinnamon Blossoms of Purpose
These special pastries are their cinnamon blossoms! “They’re in honor of my Nani,” says baker, Heather Geer. “She was my great aunt. When she died, she made it very clear she did not want a funeral. We make these in her honor and all the proceeds go to the Homeless Initiative of Tioga County. It was something she was very passionate about, so we make sure we honor her in that way.”

Dr. Mayo – Music & Psychology
Music has been such a powerful influence on all ages for as long as many of us can remember. It has profound effects on the body, mind, and soul in both positive and negative ways. It is important for us to make note of these ways, so that we can incorporate the healing power of music into our lives, rather than perpetuate our negative thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and behaviors with music that confirms these things.

Bank On It: Mortgages
If you’re in the market for a new house, you’ve probably been doing some research. There’s an abundance of information available to you and millions of places to find it. But I’ve found that some of the most common questions that I hear from my clients aren’t so easily answered with an online keyword search.

Stop the Bleed!
To better empower its communities to take quick action, UPMC Susquehanna offers free local Stop the Bleed training to school districts, businesses, and other interested community organizations for free. Since bystanders are first on the scene ahead of trained emergency personnel, Stop the Bleed aims to teach community members without medical training how to take appropriate action during those critical first minutes. Being confident in how to effectively offer aid not only empowers the community but can also bolster a victim’s resilience following a traumatic event.
