Hornets top Athens, win NTL Large School title
The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team won their second straight NTL Large School Division title with a 75-46 win over Athens on Friday, February 2.

Hornets edge Tigers, 52-47
In another classic rivalry game between Wellsboro and North Penn-Mansfield, the Hornets edged the Tigers 52-47 on Monday, February 5.

“I’m not sure how we built a first-half lead with 16 turnovers. Our shots were falling,” said Hornet head coach Todd Outman. “The second half we weren’t making our shots, we turned the ball over. It’s like I’ve said before, when it comes to this game you can throw records right out the window because it’s just that big rivalry game and Mansfield played a great game.”

Local WWII Hero turns 100
This past Sunday, February 4, 2018, many in the Wellsboro community came together at Wellsboro Bible Church to honor Allen “Oddie” Scranton in celebration of his 100th birthday. Oddie’s official date of birth is February 6, 1918.

Pastor TJ Freeman presided over the celebration stating, “it is our privilege to recognize the fact that God has kept Oddie here for one hundred years.” Much of this birthday celebration centered around being thankful. The people who attended thanked God for Oddie and thanked Oddie for his love for God, his life witness, and his service to our country.

Once Upon a Snowday
Yesterday was a snow day in Tioga County. Many of the area businesses were closed or open only for limited hours. Students had the day off. The Home Page Network studios were closed for the most part. However, one adventurous camera crew embarked on a mission: to go out into the wild and wintery wonderland of Wellsboro and Tioga County and catch some great shots! There’s nothing quite as beautiful as a snow day in Tioga County. Be sure to watch today’s video to see what we captured!

Local Parks & Rec Offer Winter Fun
Childhood obesity is being called a global epidemic and the statistics are alarming. Many locals express concern but thankfully there are many resources available to get your young children active early- even in the winter months. We visited Wellsboro Parks & Recreation as well as the YMCA in Mansfield on today’s feature.

Enrolling in a class & getting involved is a great way to add variety, beat the winter blues, be active, and meet new people. Trying new things is a great way to figure out what your child might like.
