ENHANCED LIVING, INSPIRED HEARTS
Last Wednesday, Wellsboro Home Page spoke with Kathy Siegrist, the manager of the Wellsboro Senior Center. Kathy explained how the center is a warm, positive environment for all seniors to come and feel welcomed. Senior centers provide the services older adults need to be healthy, happy and as independent as they can be. The center provides meals and activities for the seniors to enjoy together. This is an important element of a healthy aging-in-place strategy. To learn more about their services, hours of operation, and qualifications, please contact the center directly. You can reach the center by calling (570) 724-3991.

Girl Scouts from Tioga County are currently taking part in the Mount Laurel Day Camp at Hills Creek. This is a week-long camp where girls work to earn badges and learn and experience new things. This year their camp theme is media. A few of these ladies came to visit Home Page for a tour and to learn how to communicate better.
Two Girl Scouts are doing a special project to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award. The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve before they get promoted to Senior Scouts. (As a Senior Girl Scout, the scout would go for the Girl Scout Gold Award which is the equivalent to a Boy Scout, Eagle Scout rank.)
Scouts Katrina and Ashley are selling gold rubber-band bracelets, which represent child cancer awareness. Both girls have had personal battles with cancer. Katrina has struggled with leukemia – now in remission. Ashley has had family members with cancer as well. The money they raise will benefit Camp Dost. Camp Dost seeks to provide a normal camping experience for children with cancer and their siblings. For more information about Camp Dost, go to http://www.rmhdanville.org/camp-dost.html.

THE SUMMER’S LAST FIRST FRIDAY
Friday was Wellsboro’s last First Friday of the summer! First Fridays are a way of bringing the community together through retail and entertainment in Wellsboro. Every first Friday of each of the summer months, retailers stay open until 8:00 pm. During that time, different types of entertainment take place on Main Street. These events are free of charge and may include music, face painting, caricatures and scavenger hunts. Many retailers also have special sales for the evening. To find out what kind of sales are happening tonight, watch our video feature!
The 21st Annual Bucktail Reunion is also taking place this weekend. Civil War soldier reenactors will be walking around town on Friday evening and camping at Woodland Park. They’ll have exhibits set up on The Green on Saturday. Don’t miss out on this historical occasion! You can learn more about the reunion by visiting the even Facebook page here – www.facebook.com/21stannualbucktailreunion.
