MAKING THE CUT – KRISTIN STAM
Transitioning to collegiate athletics is a tough task for anyone. However, some go on from being an athlete to coaching after participating. Today’s guest on Making the Cut is Kristin Stam, who made the transition from athlete to coach.

Stam was a four-year athlete at Wellsboro before enrolling at Susquehanna University. Stam participated in indoor and outdoor track for four years and competed in a variety of events, including long jump, triple jump, high jump, hurdles, 100m dash, 4x100m relay and the heptathlon. She holds records in indoor triple jump, and both indoor and outdoor high jump.

LADY TIGERS OVERPOWER HORNETS
The North Penn-Mansfield Tigers continued their strong season going as they beat the host Wellsboro Lady Hornets, 46-29 on Tuesday, January 5.

Wellsboro kept the game close with the 7th ranked Lady Tigers as they trailed 9-6 after the first, but the Lady Tigers turned up the heat and outscored Wellsboro 18-7 in the second quarter. The Lady Tigers hit four three-pointers in the quarter, two coming from Krissy Buchanan to take a 27-13 halftime lead.

North Penn-Mansfield outscored Wellsboro 19-16 in the second half to capture the 46-29 win.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday, January 7 with North Penn-Mansfield traveling to Towanda and Wellsboro hosting Athens.

“VI-CURIOUSLY NEW” – A SURREAL EXHIBIT
Today on Home Page we had the opportunity to interview Timothy Crane, the featured artist for the month at the Deane Center. Crane is currently in his senior year at Mansfield University pursuing a major in graphic design, minoring in art history and art studio. He is a long time resident of Tioga county and a Wellsboro high school alumnus. After taking some time off, Timothy joined the Air Force in 2002. Timothy Crane currently resides in Wellsboro. Timothy’s children are incorporated in many of the pieces of art on display at the Deane Center.

NP-LIBERTY DOWNS WELLSBORO WRESTLING
North Penn-Liberty wrestling shuts out Wellsboro

The Mounties swept every single match over the rival Hornets for a 73-0 win on Thursday, January 7.

George Kyle (120 lbs.), Cameron Andrews (126 lbs.), Riley Walker (132 lbs.), Sean Kshir (160 lbs.), Charlie Andrews (170 lbs.), and Hunter McVaugh (220 lbs.) all earned forfeits for North Penn-Liberty.

Carl Dinger defeated Wellsboro’s Tyler Evans by a 15-4 major decision at 138 lbs., Sean Giles pinned Caleb Sinkler in 2:40 at 145 lbs., Judson Wise scored a fall over Cory Busch in 2:59, Mason Gee pinned Hunter Brown in 3:00 at 182 lbs., Levi Adams pinned Robert Brown in 1:38 at 195 lbs., and Justin Kriner scored a 5-0 decision against Owen Covert at 285 lbs.

The win was the Mounties sixth of the season, while Wellsboro remains winless on the year.
