Tigers Claw Indians, 68-51
Herding cats is never an easy thing as CV discovered on Wednesday night. Many fans on both sides came out to see the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers tangle with the Cowanesque Valley Indians for the semi-final game of the Northern-Tier League showdown.
The 19 and 3 Indians are, by all standards, an amazing team with an outstanding season. The Indians have also been the NTL Champions for the past two consecutive years. The Indians are loaded with talent with big guns like Tyler Melko and Bryant Painter. For the Tigers to go on the road to Westfield and come home with a win is no small accomplishment.
In the second quarter the Tigers went man-to-man, one of Coach Burleigh’s favorite defenses, and for this game the match-ups worked to North Penn-Mansfield’s advantage. This strategy turned out to be one of the big factors in Wednesday night’s game.
The final score: Tigers 68, Indians 51.
North Penn-Mansfield moves on to play Friday in the championship game at Mansfield University.
