A time to be born and a time to die – in both of these times, the love and support of our families make our journeys more complete. Wednesday’s feature was about end-of-life care and how the Samaritan House has been helping families since its founding in 1998. Daria Guelig and Jackie Murphy shared about their experiences with the families they assisted while volunteering. They also spoke about the opportunity to become a volunteer and be a part of the hospitality and comfort offered at the Samaritan House.

The Weekly Briefing – Crosswalk Caution

The Main Street/East Avenue intersection (by The Diner) is the only intersection in Wellsboro that shuts down traffic all four ways when the pedestrian crosswalk light is activated. “It is imperative that people understand that they should use these signals to cross,” says Chief Bodine. “Because of the volume of traffic we’re experiencing, it’s a big safety issue.” We’ve had a number of people killed from vehicle/pedestrian hits in years past.”

Tioga Tek – Small Airport, Big Tech!

The A.W.O.S gives the airport accurate weather data helping aircrafts on approach. Before the system was installed, aircraft were dependent on weather from Elmira and Williamsport. This is helpful as our weather in Tioga county may be differ. This allows instrument pilots to descend to a lower altitude and land easier. Another benefit of this technology is the information it provides medical life flights. Pilots can analyze the data provided by the observation system enabling better landings.
