The Summer’s Biggest Event Is Here!
Do you know when the Laurel Festival started and why? The first Laurel Festival began in 1938, when one man – resident Larry Woodin – wanted others to come and see the beauty of the Grand Canyon of the East! He persuaded the Chamber of Commerce to publicize it as a natural wonder of Tioga County.
Along with some help from the Wellsboro Lions Club, the first festival was held and named after Pennsylvania’s state flower – the Mountain Laurel.
This week-long series of events includes a variety of musical concerts, a pet parade, a 10-K footrace, a juried arts & craft fair, queens pageant, and the traditional two-hour Laurel Parade.
To learn more, or find out when these events are taking place – watch our video above! You can also view our Calendar page, or visit the Chamber of Commerce website.
