Sport Previews – Tennis & Cross Country

by Ed Weaver - August 24, 2015

Today we begin our fall sport previews with the Wellsboro girls tennis and boys and girls cross country teams. The Wellsboro girls tennis is coached by Jill Gastrock, who is back for he fourth season with the team and finished the 2014 season with an 8-5 record and a trip to District IV playoffs. With a roster loaded full of upperclassmen (six seniors & two juniors), the Lady Hornets should be primed to expand on their success last year and make another playoff run. The team begins their 2015 season today as they host Galeton at Packer Park at 4:00.

The boys cross country team is looking to improve upon a 2014 season where they struggled because they were a very young team. While still young and with no seniors on this year’s roster, the boys team is looking to bounce back and make a run for an NTL team title. The girls on the other hand are looking to improve upon a great 2014 season where they only lost one meet to league champion Northeast Bradford. Both the boys and girls cross country teams open their regular season on Thursday, September 10 in Wyalusing at the Lasagna Invite.
