Spirit of Women – Half of All Women

by Sara Vogt - January 5, 2017

Spirit of Women’s first event in Tioga County for 2017 will be held on January 19th at the Medical Plaza in Mansfield, PA. On today’s broadcast Home Page correspondent Sara Vogt met with Spirit of Women’s outreach coordinator Tonya Welshans and physical therapist Barbara Rouse at the event location to find out the details for the event.

Tonya stressed that this special evening will be both informative and fun. This gathering is for women of all ages starting at childbearing years to postmenopausal. The event begins at 5:30 PM with a tour of the new facility while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres! Next on the schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM UMPC/Susquehanna Health’s Women’s Health Specialists Barbara Rouse, PT and Brooke Patt, PT will be presenting a talk titled, ‘Half of All Women.’ Statistics show that 50% of all women do not talk to their physicians about the health of their pelvic floor.

Then from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM the event concludes with a Q&A with Barbara and Pat regarding the important subject of pelvic health.

On today’s program, Barbara detailed some of the concerns women have about their pelvic health and addresses some of the things that they will be discussing during their presentation. This event will cover topics such as urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction. Barbara and Brooke will also be teaching about the pelvic muscle anatomy and function and how a therapist can help treat the conditions listed above. Living with troublesome symptoms in the pelvic area is not normal. Educating women for a healthy change is one way to bring healing and relief.

Registration is free and open to all women over the age of eighteen. Invite family and friends to join you for this event. Call Spirit of Women today at 1-888-720-8461.
