Small Town, Big Heart – Holiday Spirit
Today’s broadcast features our latest edition of Small Town, Big Heart with Blossburg Mayor Shane Nickerson. The program is a business profile on the Holiday Market in Blossburg.
The Holiday Market in Bloss is a huge part of our community. Owners Ryan and Melanie Shaut told Mayor Nickerson that they employ about thirty people at the Market. They went on to tell the story of two people who decided to take that step of faith that seems to be the one consistent ingredient for people with business courage and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Before launching their vision for Blossburg Holiday Market, Ryan worked for a large retailer. The drive to work every day was long, and there was time missed with family. Melanie was a stay at home Mom with a degree in social work. Melanie said that she grew up eating Holiday Market Kielbasa and what she really wanted was to own the Kielbasa recipe and make her family proud.
The Shauts said that a big part of their decision was the community. They appreciate e the people of Blossburg and how the town pulls together. Later on in the broadcast Ryan and Melanie give some heartfelt advice to those who would consider starting a business of their own. You don’t want to miss this.
During the second part of today’s broadcast, Mayor Nickerson talks with Laurie Tompkins one of Holiday Market’s loyal customers. Laurie said that she likes shopping at the Holiday Market because she believes that it’s important to shop locally. She enjoys meeting people at the store while shopping and the Holiday Market has everything she needs, and more.
Mayor Nickerson and Mataya also discuss the importance of having places of gathering in a community. The Holiday Market in Blossburg is just such a place. The Mayor also talks about how one of the key parts to a small town is entrapreneurs. And, he wraps things up giving a very constructive view of fear of failure.
We hope you will take a few moments to enjoy today’s broadcast. Who knows, it may change your life forever.
