Senior Night at Wellsboro Track

On Tuesday, April 28 as the Hornets hosted Northeast Bradford and Troy on Senior Night. The evening began as Wellsboro Athletic Director Matt Rendos announced all the senior athletes before their final home meet.

The Wellsboro Lady Hornets took home first place with 112 points, followed by Troy with 42 and Northeast Bradford with 30.

Jada Jackson (12.7) and Lauren Bleggi (12.8) swept the 100m and Bleggi (27.4) and Lindsey Graver (28.1) took the top two spots in the 200m. Caitlynn Butler was second in the 400m (1:09.7) and Camryn Keane won the 800m run in 2:48.9 followed by Anne Sweeney (2:55.6) in 2nd.

Anna Bleggi won the 1600m run in 6:06 and Bleggi (12:30) and Janessa Davis (13:36) took home the top two spots in the 3200m run. Haley Zuchowski was second in the 100m hurdles in 17.0 and backed up that performance with a second place time of 49.7in the 300m hurdles.

Wellsboro won the 4x100m relay in 51.4 seconds, Troy won the 4x400m relay in 4:58.6 seconds, and Wellsboro won the 4x800m in 11:33.8 seconds.

Mikayla Feil cleared 5 ft 1 in to win the high jump and Raisa Rogers (4 ft 11 in) finished in third. Wellsboro swept the pole vault as Joey Taft (7 ft 6 in), Melody Benner (7 ft), and Kaitlynne Kramer (6 ft 5 in) took home the top three spots. Jackson won the long jump at 16 ft 6.5 in followed by Lindsey Graver at 15 ft 4 in, and both Jackson (35 ft) and Graver (31 ft 1 in) finished 1-2 in the triple jump.

Troy’s Jenn Shults won all three throwing events on the afternoon. She won the shot put with a throw of 33 ft 3 in, the discus at 99 ft 7 in, and the javelin at 89 ft 6 in.

On the boys side, Northeast Bradford won the meet with 80 points, followed by Wellsboro in second with 75 and Troy in third with 33.

Michael Pietropola won the 100m in 11.4 seconds with Rich Tardieu (11.5) in 2nd. Briuex Thibaut won the 200m in 23.6 seconds with Kieron Smethers (24.2) in third. Smethers won the 400m in 53.4 and Isaac Leach was third in the 800m run in 2:19.6. Leach was fourth in the 1600m (5:03.7) and the 3200m (11:51.8) runs, Jack Chambers won the 110m hurdles in 17.5 seconds and was 2nd in the 300m at 43.2. The Hornets won the 4x100m relay in 46.1 seconds, and Northeast Bradford won the 4×400 and 4x800m relays.

Tardieu (5 ft 6 in) won the high jump with Brandon Lamphier (5 ft 2 in) in 2nd, Gabe Leach was second in the pole vault (7 ft), Jacob Singer won the long jump at 16 ft 9 in, and Tardieu won the triple jump at 39 ft 3.5 in.

Bill Lupokowski was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 38 ft, Evan English was seventh in the discus (109 ft 3 in), and Lamphier was third in the javelin (119 ft 2 in).

The wins improve the girls’ record to 7-1, while the boys improve to 5-3. Both teams will be back in action on Friday, May 1 as they participate in the Coudersport Invite.
