POW MIA Day – September 15 @ 6 pm
“Freedom has a taste to it to those who fight and almost die that the protected will never know,” read the words etched into the walls of the Vietnam prison, “Hanoi Hilton” by an unknown prisoner of war. Our nation’s brave prisoners of war and soldiers considered missing in action face bleak conditions and often brutal treatment.
Every year Tioga County remembers such service members at the POW MIA Remembrance Ceremony. Master of Ceremony, Colonel Eldon Cummings, and Master Sergeant Clare R. Emery sit down to discuss the significance, the traditions and why we all should attend.
This moving ceremony is being held by the VFW and American Legion this Friday, September 15th at 6 pm on The Green in Wellsboro, PA.
We encourage all our Home Page viewers to attend this Friday to make the resolute and unyielding statement, “We Will Never Forget our POW/MIAs.” For those who would like to do more for our selfless service men and women, you can contact Dawn Pletcher at Goodies for our Troops, 87 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA (570-662-5601) or Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc. at www.PAwoundedwarriors.org.
