Potter-McKean Wins District 15 Title!

by Joe Carreon - July 11, 2014

The Wellsboro 11-12 All-Stars traveled to Shinglehouse where they faced the Potter-Mckean All-Stars in the game three showdown. The district title was at stake, and both teams came ready to play.

Potter-Mckean had a hot start to this game, getting out ahead of the Wellsboro pitching and making some great plays on the base-paths. Potter-Mckean also played some great defense and it was fueled by the excellent pitching of Howie Stuckey. He used a nasty curveball, along with a good mix of the fastball and slider all night long to leave the Wellsboro batters off balance and frustrated. In two separate innings, Wellsboro grounded into two crippling double plays that really put a damper on them the rest of the way and further showed the great execution of the Potter-Mckean All-Stars. Wellsboro would plate one run on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the 6th inning, but that was it. Their bats were silenced the rest of the game. Potter Mckean takes the district 15 title with a score of 4-1.

Congratulations to Potter-Mckean on claiming the District 15 title! A season of hard work has certainly paid off! We also want to congratulate the Wellsboro All-Stars on their terrific season! Wellsboro has a lot to be proud of with the amount of passion you boys showed on the field this year.

Wellsboro Home Page will be covering the 9-10 boys game tonight and you can look for the highlights from that game on Friday.
