New Ice Cream Shop Opens!
Owner Doug Matthews opened up the original Scoops Munchies-N-More in Covington in 2014. According to Manager Sherry Whitney, he wanted to expand and he has always wanted to come to Wellsboro.
Scoops Munchies-N-More had a soft opening on May 26th and the grand opening was during Memorial Day weekend.
“Business has been wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. It has been crazy busy,” Whitney said.
Different from other ice cream shops in the area, customers can pay for their sweet treats (both hard ice cream and frozen yogurt) by weight.
“Everyone really likes the weighing system. One comment I heard was ‘this was genius,’” Whitney said.
There are four machines with frozen yogurt, so there are eight different flavors to choose from, plus the flavor twists. There is also a machine that has chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
Customers can get cups in three different sizes, 12, 16 and 24 ounces.
Once a customer decides on the flavor, then there are many different toppings to add.
There are dry toppings such as sprinkles, cookie bites and crushed candy bar pieces. There are also liquid toppings such as hot fudge, peanut butter, marshmallow and caramel.
All in all, Scoops has over 40 toppings to choose from!
The ice cream flavors are pretty consistent. There will be about one new flavor per week, as well as seasonal flavors. As for the frozen yogurt, those flavors will change weekly.
Whitney’s favorite flavor and topping combination is chocolate (ice cream or yogurt) with cookie dough bites with peanut butter topping. “I love it. It is so addicting,” Whitney said.
“I saw one person got chocolate ice cream and they got a tiny scoop of almost every topping on it, but that is the point. You can choose whatever you want,” Whitney said.
Scoops Munchies-N-More also offers the only cold stone process in the area. You can pick what kind of ice cream and toppings that you want, and then you can get it all mixed together. The shop also offer milkshakes, and the shop will get Hawaiian shaved ice soon.
After enjoying your ice cream or yogurt, stop in next door to the market to shop for local produce. Right now the market currently offers items such as hanging flower baskets and strawberries that were grown in Williamsport.
Stop on by from 12 – 9 p.m. every day of the week. Scoops Munchies-N-More plans to stay open seasonally through October.
