Muncy tops North Penn-Liberty, 64-34
The North Penn-Liberty boys basketball team dropped their third straight game of the season in a 64-34 loss to Muncy on Monday, December 18.
After a bucket by Muncy a three from Klayton Roupp put the Mounties ahead. That would be their only lead of the game, however. The game remained close early on Muncy head a slim 12-8 lead as the first quarter came to a close.
The second quarter is when Muncy caught fire from beyond the three-point line. The Indians hit three in the quarter to outscore the Mounties 19-8 to run their lead to 31-16 at halftime.
The Mounties came out to with two quick buckets from Brandyn Choplosky, but the Indians kept their hot streak from behind the three-point line in the second half as they hit four more threes, giving them 9 for the game. The Indians put up 22 points in the third quarter alone, led by 8 from Matt Coyner, to extend their lead to 53-22 to put the game out of reach.
Liberty outscored Muncy 12-11 in the final frame on two three-pointers from Duncan Zeafla, but Muncy went on for their fourth straight win.
Zeafla and Logyn Choplosky both led the Mounties with 6 points each while Coyner finished with a game-high 18.
The loss drops the Mounties 0-3 overall. The team will be back in action this evening against the Towanda Black Knights.
