MU Beat – Inside the New Semester
The Mansfield University Beat is a new feature on Mansfield Home Page.
This segment features stories that will tell the Mansfield University story and highlight the achievements and activities of Mansfield University students, faculty and staff. We’ll also bring you other interesting stories about our university and its history.
In the first edition of the Mansfield University Beat, Terry Day talks with senior Chris Homa and freshman Becca Ricci about their expectations for the spring semester and their Mansfield experience.
Chris is enthusiastic about his experiences at Mansfield University and his goals for the future.
“It is like a home to me; a home away from home—and this is the last semester I have here, so I am trying to make the most of it . . . academically and socially.”
Beyond academics, Chris has been very involved in extracurricular activities and has gained valuable leadership experience. “Being here has really prepared me for what’s to come.”
As the leader of the Mansfield University Campus-Wide Health Challenge, Chris had the opportunity to travel to the White House, which he describes as a highlight of his college experience.
He also notes that the smaller student body facilitates close relationships, not only with fellow students, but with faculty, as well. “They really get to understand who you are as a person . . . They know you one-on-one, each one of their students.”
Freshman Bella Ricci is in her second semester at Mansfield University and is a member of the women’s basketball team.
Bella is excited about resuming classes and enjoys the independence of being away at school. When asked how her experience has been so far, she describes it as, “Really great!”
She, too, values the accessibility of the professors. “They are very helpful. They always email you back if you have any questions, and are always there to help during office hours.”
“All the students here are really nice,” she continues, “The campus is pretty—It definitely gets really cold during the winter,” she adds, laughing.
To learn more about the experiences Chris and Bella have had at Mansfield University, be sure to tune in to the broadcast and watch their interviews!
