Movin’ Together – Digest This! Salad Up!

by Melissa Bravo - July 28, 2017

Joining Sara today on the latest Movin’ Together feature is Jen Davis, a registered dietician living and working here in Tioga County. Click here to watch today’s feature and learn more about the importance of salad greens and vegetables in maintaining a healthy diet.

Here are some of the dietary questions our guest has answered for us today in our feature story. But before you watch the video, make yourself a sumptuous plate of salad. There’s never a better time to start eating healthy, why not right now. Go on, we’ll wait for you!

• Why is the salad a great tool for the healthy tool basket?”
• What are cruciferous vegetables?
• What makes cruciferous vegetables bitter?
• Did you know there are eleven different kinds of vegetables in the cruciferous family?
• Does it matter when we eat our salad during our meal?
• What should we incorporate in our salad?

If you don’t have the fixings for a plate of salad right now, make a resolution to stop at one of our local farmer’s market venues. Vegetable season is here and it is turning out to be a bumper crop this year!

Next time on Movin’ Together:
We’ll be discussing the wonder of sleep! To sleep or not to sleep!
A question we ask ourselves many times in this busy, sometimes over whelming journey called life!
The challenge is that sleep is still often looked at as a ‘get it if you can’ luxury as opposed to a critical pillar of health.
Sleep … our next healthy tool to be discussed.
Thanks again for joining us here on the Home Page Network.
