Mounties fall to NEB
A strong second half gave the visiting Northeast Bradford Panthers a 55-35 win over the North Penn-Liberty Mounties on Saturday, January 26.
“Northeast used solid defense and shooting to get an early lead and extend it as the game went on,” Mountie head coach Brian Litzelman said.
NEB outscored Liberty 15-9 in the first quarter and edged the Mounties 13-10 in the second to lead 28-19 at halftime, but the Panthers pulled away in the third quarter as they went on a 15-7 to open the lead up to 43-26 as the fourth quarter started.
NEB kept the intensity up in the fourth and again held the Mounties to under 10 points to claim the win.
Andy Crown led NEB with 14 points, Zak Smith scored 12, and Brady Hopkins and Clayton scored 8 points each.
Noah Spencer led North Penn-Liberty with 6 points while Duncan Zeafla, Logan Horsley, and Nick Grinnell all added 5 points. Horsley added 7 rebounds and Brandon Thompson had 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and an assist.
The loss drops North Penn-Liberty to 8-6 overall and 4-6 in the NTL Small School Division standings, while Northeast Bradford improves to 10-6 and 7-3. The Mounties are back in action on the road in Canton on Tuesday, January 29, weather permitting.
