Memorial Trophy Rivalry Game 2016
The evening of Friday, October 28, 2016 will set the stage for a dramatic showdown: the highly anticipated rivalry football game between Wellsboro High School and North Penn-Mansfield. This year, the Hornets will meet the Panthers at Mansfield University’s Karl Van Norman Field to determine who will walk away with Morton F. Jones Memorial Trophy and the Northern Tier League Large School Division championship. This trophy has been awarded to the winner and traded back and forth since 1962.
In today’s feature, former coach and Home Page correspondent Steve Adams meets with North Penn-Mansfield head coach Tom Dickinson and Wellsboro head coach Matt Hildebrand to talk about their teams, the importance of tonight’s game, and what this long-standing rivalry means to the two schools and to them.
