Matt Baker Awards Grand Canyon FFA

by Austin Dragovich - January 13, 2015

On Friday, January 9th Pennsylvania State Representative Matt Baker presented members of the Grand Canyon FFA Chapter of Pennsylvania with awards for their achievements in the FFA Forestry Career Development Event. This event took place in October of last year at Bernheim Forest in Clermont, Kentucky, where the team placed 8th overall nationally. The team, led by advisor Maggie Berndtson, received a Gold emblem for their efforts. Four members earned individual honors as well. Curtis Avery, Clayton Bieber, and Laura Young earned Gold emblems and Cody Dehaas earned a Silver emblem.

The National FFA Forestry CDE is a competitive event that tests students’ knowledge and skills in forest management. Events include tree identification, a chainsaw practicum, a general forest knowledge exam, and a team activity.

Home Page would like to congratulate these members of FFA for their achievements.
