Tis the Season in Blossburg
The Christmas season is in full swing. Beautiful lights twinkle in the crisp night air. Familiar, festive music fills shopping stores and radio stations. There is a holly, jolly energy all around! So, what could be better than a merry Christmas concert to put us further in the holiday spirit?
“Tis the Season” is a program comprised of local talent, and is reminiscent of a classic variety show. The performance has beautiful singing, wonderful music (including a string ensemble), heartwarming dialog, classic Christmas songs and carols, acapella numbers, and so much more to enjoy. The onstage talent boasts a vast age range, so there is certainly something for everyone to appreciate!

More Than Just a Library
Reformed in 1946, the Blossburg Memorial Library has been doing its best to serve and help the community in every way possible. It is a great place to come in, read a book, play on the computer, or even learn how to knit a scarf! Some may not know, but it’s free to open a library account. This will give you access to thousands of books in the library, as well as online. They don’t just offer books either; you can borrow movies, audiobooks, and so much more.

Mansfield Basketball Preview 2017
The one word being mentioned by both Mansfield basketball teams to start the 2017 season is youth. While both teams have three total senior members between them, both squads are looking to have solid seasons and compete for district titles.
Boys Head Coach: Kipper Burleigh
Boys 2016 Record: 21-6
Boys Key Returners: Nick Kasper, Brent Burleigh
Boys Player(s) to Watch: Garrett David, Dylan Meyer
Girls Head Coach: Nate McNamara
Girls 2016 Record: 7-15
Girls Key Returners: Alaina McKee, Alyssa Smith
Girls Player(s) to Watch: JoAnne McNamara, Shaelyn Berguson, Lizzi Welch
The Lady Tigers had a rough 2016 season as many members of their team played both JV and Varsity as many members of the team were underclassmen. While that is still the case for 2017 with only two seniors, Smith and McKee, the group should be competitive with another year of play under their belts.

A Warm Welcome for Babies
Community hospitals like Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital thrive by the strong support of their friends, neighbors and staff, and Friends of SSMH are encouraging everyone to join them in raising funds to purchase a Panda Warmer for the hospital nursery.
“Warmers are a vital piece of equipment that we use to monitor infants and keep their temperature stable and comfortable,” explains Khara Martin, Patient Care Manager for the OB Unit. “This new, innovative warmer is wonderful because unlike some of the previous models, it has everything we need centrally located in one machine—from built-in scales and warmth to vitals and resuscitation.”
