Higgins claims 7th STPR Victory
The 41st annual Waste Management Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally was held from Friday, June 2 to Saturday, June 3. This year’s event was sanctioned by a new partner, the American Rally Association. Racing teams from across the globe, including locals from Tioga County, gathered on The Green in Wellsboro to begin the weekend on Friday.

Higgins and Drew would continue on to win, marking Higgins 7th STPR victory and his third American Rally Association championship. Travis Pastrana and Robbie Durant placed second overall, with Jeff Seehorn and Karen Jankowski following in third.

Back to Basics – Honor
As a nation we just celebrated Memorial Day weekend, and the topic of honor is in the front of our minds. To honor someone simply means to show them high esteem or great respect. We understand the importance of showing respect to those who have purchased and defended our freedom by sacrificing their lives for the good of their country. And it is their sacrifice the helps us remember what it means to live in a way that is truly honorable. Rather than buying into the world’s pattern of honoring self above all else, remember the example of those before us who would rather live for the good of another than the good of self.

Banners of our Heroes
Each year in Mansfield, there is a Veteran’s Day service as part of the 4th of July celebration, which honors the Veterans in the Mansfield community who have served our country. To expand upon this, the Mansfield community has decided to feature banners on Main Street which honor our heroes. The banners display the hero’s name, picture, branch of service, era of service, and sponsor. Some of these banners are sponsored by their families, and others are sponsored by local businesses.

We would like to especially thank all of the sponsors, local businesses, families, volunteers, and of course, those who have served to protect our country and our freedoms. God bless!

It’s a Pop’s Adventure!
Looking for some family-friendly games to keep you from being bored this summer? Well look no further! If you’re looking for outdoor games, travel games, card games, strategy games, and more, Pop’s Culture Shoppe is the place to be!

In this tour of Pop’s Culture Shoppe, we discover games such as Takenoko, Forbidden Island, and Brick Party. When the weather is sunny, we can enjoy fun, outdoor games such as ring toss, boomerangs, hacky sacks, and giant, soft Frisbees to throw. We also learn about magnetic games, bingo, and other travel games that will keep the kids busy on long car rides, in a hotel room, or even at a campsite. In addition to games, Pop’s Culture Shoppe also sponsors a photo contest to determine which photos will be turned into special Tioga County puzzles.

Here Comes the Laurel Festival!
Today’s feature focuses on the 76th annual State Laurel Festival, held June 10th-18th. Begun as a weekend event in 1938 by Larry Woodin, the festival has grown into a weeklong celebration that kicks off the summer.

These events are just a sneak peek of the many wonderful activities and entertainment you can enjoy this week for the 76th Annual State Laurel Festival! Be sure to check the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce’s website for a complete schedule, or pick up a brochure from many of our area businesses and tourist attractions. If you have any questions, you can call the Chamber of Commerce at (570) 724-1926.
