A week of Mansfield Home Page feature highlights!

by Home Page Staff - April 22-23, 2017

MU Beat – Red Fridays
On today’s broadcast, we feature the latest edition of Mansfield University Beat with President Fran Hendricks and MU’s Director of Public Relations, Terry Day. Our focus for this installment of MU Beat is Red Friday.

Mansfield’s record of military service dates back to the civil war. Mounties have served and defended the United States of America from our early days as a nation and continue to do so to this day.

One of the ways that Mansfield University honors those who are currently serving our country, and their families, is by donning red every Friday.

Welcome to Three Springs
Three Springs Ministries, founded in 1984, is located just two miles west of the village of Nauvoo in Morris Township, Tioga County PA. The ministry is centered upon two different facilities located just one mile apart.

Three Springs Farm is a year-round retreat facility with a focus upon young adults ages 13-18. With a total of 95 beds, Three Springs Farm hosts weekend retreats throughout the school year for church youth groups from all over PA, NY, NJ, and MD. Year round activities include an indoor climbing wall, large game room, human fussball, and various horse-related activities in a newly constructed indoor riding arena. There is a large group meeting room that seats 100, with the latest in audio/visual equipment. In spring through fall there are additional outdoor activities like volleyball, basketball, soccer, hiking, horseback trail rides, disk golf, swimming, tractor-drawn hayrides, campfire area, and Bernie, our overly-friendly Bernese Mountain Dog!

Tigers cruise past Hornets, 13-2
The North Penn-Mansfield Tigers remained undefeated on the 2017 season with a 13-2 win over rival Wellsboro on Tuesday, April 18. The Tigers used a 10-run second inning, keyed off multiple walks, to overpower their rivals.

“It’s a rivalry game. I think these guys all know each other through the community and playing different sports and their excited to compete on the baseball field as well,” said Mansfield head coach Matt Perry.

On the Radar – Underage Drinking
Underage drinking can also affect you legally, financially, professionally, and socially. You could be charged criminally for consuming, possessing, purchasing, or transporting alcoholic beverages. Other charges might include public drunkenness, driving under the influence, or even worse being involved in a crash while driving under the influence.

Along with these criminal charges comes costs, fines, community service, or even jail time if you are 18 or older. Many people don’t consider the social ramifications that they and/or their family may suffer if they are involved in an underage drinking incident. Additionally, many employers will request criminal history backgrounds and check your social media sites to determine if you are the right kind of employee for their company.

Back to Basics – Stepping Out in Faith
Melissa Owlett and Barbara Winters join Pastor Freeman on today’s broadcast feature for a unique Back to Basics. They share their journey of stepping out in faith and being faithful to God’s call, even when they were not sure exactly what it all meant. As it turns out the mission is to bring the Gettys to our area for a concert on Saturday, April 29th. This labor of love was a step of faith for all three.
