Today’s feature introduces a new provider, serving Tioga County, on the team of the Blossburg Laurel Health Center. Originally from Churchville in Bucks County, PA – Dr. Lara Jaussi is no stranger to small town life. She attended the University of Pittsburg and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience, minoring in Chemistry and Biology in 2009. In 2011 she earned Master of Biological Sciences from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She continued her studies as she graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at Seton Hill, becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015.

Her desire to pursue medicine began at an early age, inspired by her mother.

“My mom was actually a nurse,” stated Dr. Jaussi. “I think that was what truly motivated me, because for as long as I can remember it’s always been a dream of mine to be a physician.”

Spending time with patients and getting to know them on a personal level is an integral part of Dr. Jaussi’s mission and passion.

“That is entirely why I decided to go into family medicine,” says Dr. Jaussi. “I thought for a while about other specialties in medicine, like OBGYN and anesthesiology, but I felt I was really missing that patient connection and getting to know people. So that’s why I decided to go into family medicine.”

Earlier this year, Dr. Lara Jaussi completed her residency in Williamsport through the Williamsport Family Medicine Residency Program. Growing up near Philadelphia, Dr. Jaussi remarked she and her husband much preferred the small town atmosphere to urban life. When her job search began they looked for a small community. That’s when they found the Laurel Health Centers.

“This just perfectly fit the bill,” Dr. Jaussi remarked. “It allows me to pursue all avenues of family medicine that I wanted to. I get to take care of children, I get a large population of young women coming to the practice, and that’s exactly what I was lookin for.”
