by Ed Weaver - May 25, 2018

The North Penn-Liberty Mounties rallied over #5 Columbia Montour Vo-Tech with a monster fourth inning to roll to a 7-1 win in the District IV Class AAA quarterfinals on Thursday, May 24.

After CMVT took the lead in the top of the fourth on a Bridget Fausey double to center to score Michelle Hackenburg, the Lady Mounties rallied with six runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Savanah Doney led off the inning with an infield hit followed by a bunt by Delaney Colton. Mariah Kshir then singled between short and third to score Doney to tie the game at 1-1. Mackenzie Heater followed Kshir’s base hit with one of her own to left field to score Colton putting the Mounties in front. Emma Williams continued the Mounties hot streak at the plate and hit one to the grass to score Kshir.

After a bunt to load the bases by Ryley Kotulka, Abby Heatley sent a shot to right-center to score Heater. Brooke Harvey then drilled one to left field for a double to score Kotulka and Heatly to go up 6-1.

Liberty added one more run for insurance in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Delaney Colton drew a walk to score Harvey to make it 7-1.

Harvey was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs to lead the Lady Mounties at the plate while Kshir, Colton, Williams, Kotulka, and Heater all going 1-for-3. Heatley was 1-for-4 and Doney was 1-for-1 and was intentionally walked 3 times.

Kshir’s hit was a double and she added 2 RBIs. Colton, Williams, and Heater all drove in runs.

Doney scored the win on the mound for the Lady Mounties pitching a complete game, two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Next up for North Penn-Liberty is a semi-final match up with #1 Warrior Run on Tuesday, May 29 at the Moser Complex in Turbotville. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
