Ladies invited to Spirit of Women Event

by Home Page Staff - November 11, 2016

Today’s feature is with guest Tonya Welshans, Williamsport based outreach coordinator for UPMC Susquehanna Health’s Spirit of Women program here in Tioga and Lycoming counties. When asked to explain the mission, Tonya said, “Spirit of Women is a unique program that motivates and encourages women to make positive choices in their lives. We want them to be educated and act upon recommended screenings, to see their physicians regularly even when they feel well to live the best life they can.”

You are invited to attend their next event on November 28th, from 5pm to 7pm being held at the Deane Center in downtown Wellsboro. Starting at 5:00pm there will be many opportunities to talk with your friends and have those important screenings done such as blood pressure, body composition and posture screening. Shopping is also available at this time with the Spirit of Women rewards partners such as the Fifth Season. Then at 6:00pm a light dinner will be served while registered dietitian Susan Browning shares with those attending her presentation entitled, ‘You will receive one body – the first step in a journey of self-acceptance.’

Topics included in her talk will be, how do you see yourself through the life cycle, challenges you have with your body, steps to self-esteem and rules for coping with your body bugaboos.

This is an opportunity to gather your women friends and family members for a night out to enjoy and learn together!

Those wanting to attend the event can join by registering by phone 1-888-720-8461 or online here. This free membership includes, among other things, health screenings and classes, invitations to member’s only events, ongoing health and wellness information and a loyalty card to give access to special offers from area businesses.

* Susquehanna Health announced on October 10, 2016, they have joined the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), becoming UPMC Susquehanna.
