Hornets host NEB & Towanda for XC Meet
The Wellsboro Cross Country teams hosted Northeast Bradford and Towanda on Tuesday, October 6 at Nessmuk Lake.
In the boys race, Northeast Bradford beat Wellsboro 17-38 and Towanda 15-40. Wellsboro beat Towanda 21-34. Northeast took the top 3 spots on the afternoon as Casey Ellis won in 18:22 and Zak Smith and Garrett Smith finished 2nd and 3rd.
Wellsboro’s Aidan Perry came home fourth in 18:34, and Alden Weiner (19:42) and Connor Brought (19:46) were 10th and 11th. Towanda’s top 3 runners finished 12th through 14th, as Chase Dibble (19:56), Stephen Benditt (20:14), and Jordan Isbell (20:19) finished together.
Rounding out the Hornets finishers were Bergen Weiner (20:20) in 15th, Bryon Callahan (20:30) in 16th, Zach Busch (20:56) was 18th, Kyle Wilson (22:15) was 20th, Logan Morral (23:16) was 26th, Taylor Wheeler (24:53) was 28th, and Noah Smith (37:08) was 31st.
In the girls race Northeast Bradford beat Wellsboro 19-36 and Towanda 17-38, while Wellsboro edged Towanda 25-30. Northeast’s Karli Moyer won with a time of 21:22, Wellsboro Anna Bleggi was 2nd at 21:43, and Notheast’s Lydia Werner (22:47) and Krista Hallett (23:54) were 3rd and fourth.
Wellsboro’s Taylor Romania finished (25:13) 9th and Sammi Bailey (25:38) was 11th to round out Wellsboro’s top three runners. Towanda runners finished 6th and 7th led by Genesis Vasquez (24:12), and Cheyenne Brown (25:53) came home in 12th place.
Wellsboro’s Jordyn Coffee (25:54) was 13th, Camryn Keane (26:32) was 16th, Kara Doane (26:50) was 17th, Zoe Iseri (28:14) was 21st, and Rachel Chamberlain (28:55) was 24th.
In the Middle School races, the Wellsboro boys beat Towanda 25-30 and lost to Northeast 20-43, while the girls beat both teams 15-50. Austin Richards (10:19) finished first for the boys and Jaime Palmer (12:12) was first for the girls.
The Hornets will be back in action next Tuesday, October 13 as they travel to Canton for a quad-meet with Canton, Troy, and Cowanesque Valley.
