Hornet Happenings – Welcome Back!

by Andrew Moore - August 19, 2015

Welcome back to Hornet Happenings! As summer ends, a new school year begins and Wellsboro High School has been busy preparing for the upcoming semester. Custodians have been cleaning and tidying up the halls and classrooms. Maintenance has been touching up the paint, repairing components and orchestrating the general upkeep of the buildings. Office work is being transitioned into the new year by the capable staff of secretaries. Classes will start on Thursday, August 27.

There aren’t many changes coming this semester (aside from a few potential faculty additions), but Principal Krick is excited to announce one new program: the 1-to-1 Initiative. This initiative puts a new Dell laptop into the hands of each student enrolled at the high school as a tool for their studies.
Enrolled students and their parents can pick up their laptops at the high school on the following dates:

9th – 10th Grade
Thursday, August 20 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Tuesday, August 25 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

11th – 12th Grade
Friday, August 21 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Monday, August 24 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Parents are required to accompany each student to sign policy papers and are reminded to bring $50.00 in cash or money order to cover the laptop insurance fee.

No other new policies are currently in effect this semester, however – Principal Krick would like to remind students and parents of the school’s “No Cellphone Use” policy that has been in effect, but will be more strictly enforced due to the availability and convenience of the new laptop program.
