Goodies For Our Troops Receives $5,000 Grant!

by John Vogt - March 27, 2017

On Friday, March 24, 2017 Goodies For Our Troops received a special “goodies” box of their own. One of the goodies in that box was a check for $5,000.00. The check was from Surgarlands Distilling Company, who selected Goodies For Our Troops as one of their top 12 charities (out of 300 considerations) for 2017.

Dawn Pletcher, the Founder and Co-Director of Goodies here in Wellsboro, PA was extensively thankful to Cyndy Burrows who encouraged her to enter the Sugarlands contest. She also had many thanks to offer to all of the wonderful people who voted for Goodies For Our Troops.

Home Page cameras were on location and rolling at 87 Main Street when Dawn opened that special box from Sugarland. Join Home Page correspondent Samuel Moss as he talks with Dawn about God’s blessing and what Goodies For Our Troops will do with the money.

According to a recent press release from Gatlinburg, Tennessee: Sugarlands Distilling Company, distillers of award-winning spirits located in East Tennessee will Distribute $60,000 to Nonprofit Organizations across the United States in 2017. Twelve nonprofit organizations nationwide were chosen to receive a $5,000 grant.

Those twelve deserving organizations were chosen by the public to receive a $5,000 grant to help their respective causes. To view a full list of the 2017 MoonShare recipients, please visit www.moonshare.org.

The press release went on to state that, “Each year we encounter so many people working hard to improve their communities through charitable efforts,” said Courtney DeLaura, National Director of MoonShare. “This program is just one way we can bolster their efforts to make this world a better place to live.”

In addition to the monetary award, each of the 12 organizations will be assigned a month to be featured in the “Month to Shine” series on Sugarlands Distilling Company’s website and social media platforms to help bring awareness to the cause of each MoonShare recipient.
Sugarlands Distilling Company made 2015 its first annual “Year of Giving” by launching MoonShare, a nationwide giveback component of the East Tennessee distillery that helps nonprofit organizations positively influence their communities through MoonShare grants, fundraisers, and donations. Since 2015, Sugarlands Distilling Co. donated more than $120,000 to nonprofit organizations and charities across the country.

On today’s broadcast, Dawn Pletcher also takes time to thank God for the donation and said that “the whole Goodies For Our Troops mission is a gift from God. For almost twelve years since the operation began He always sends the right people and the needed funds at just the right time.”

We encourage our community to continue to support Goodies For Our Troops with your time, and resources as they press on toward fulfilling their mission.
