Giving Thanks

by John Vogt - November 27, 2014

Today on Wellsboro Home Page we give thanks for our many blessings. Life can be difficult and very challenging at times, but we can always find things for which we are thankful.

I have found that a thankful heart will bring a person peace, rest and great joy. Being thankful is not only a tremendous blessing to those around us, but it has great benefits for us as well.

Being thankful moves us from being cranky and ill-tempered to being patient and loving. Being thankful helps us to get our eyes off ourselves and looking to the needs of others. Being thankful tends to make us a giver instead of a taker. A thankful person is a kind person. When we are thankful we tend to be joyful and more appreciative of others.

A thankful heart tends to be a cheerful heart, and a cheerful heart is good medicine – but a broken spirit dries up the bones, sapping a person’s strength. Conversely, a person with a heart of thanksgiving tends to be stronger. Have you ever noticed how a thankful person can somehow press on through adversity, making the most out of a challenging situation until reaching full recovery. Then, quite often, they go on to bring comfort to others as they themselves have been comforted.

Today on Wellsboro Home Page we had the opportunity to walk Main Street and speak with a number of very thankful people. Just listening to their comments and thoughts encouraged our hearts. We hope that it will be the same for you when you watch today’s feature.

Finally, we encourage you to take a little time today to reflect on and thank those people who have made a difference, for good, in your life. Most of all we encourage you to thank the One who loves you most for His many blessings. To God be the glory for the things He has done, is doing, and is about to do.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving, from all the staff here at Wellsboro Home Page.
