A child is a blessing from above but they definitely do not come with instructions. If you are like most expectant parents, you have a long list of questions and concerns regarding pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care and nursing. While the internet is a good place to begin the search for answers, nothing compares to getting the facts straight from an experienced OB nurse.

Luckily, registered nurse Dawn Burke of Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital is a lactation specialist and certified childbirth educator. She teaches 6 free and unique classes on these subjects every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Cedar Conference Room.

Many new parents-to-be are comforted to know that a wide variety of topics will be covered during these 6 classes:
-Class #1: Pregnancy
-Class #2: Labor & Delivery
-Class #3: Comfort Measures
-Class #4: Breast Feeding & C-section
-Class #5: Newborn Care
-Class #6: Parenting (with special guest, pediatrician Dr. Clark)

Since these are taught year round, anyone can attend regardless of their due date. Many moms feel more prepared, relaxed and confident after taking the time to learn more about their pregnancy, the birth process and the facilities available.
