Dance marathon raises millions!
Penn State’s THON held the annual 46 hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon for children with pediatric cancer in the Bryce Jordan Center. The weekend was filled with laughter, tears and of course dancing.
Over 700 dancers began standing at 6 p.m. on Friday and did not sleep or sit until Sunday at 4 p.m. Many Penn State student-athletes performed their own signature dances to show their support and dedication to the cause.
From water gun fights to baby powder slides, the marathon was filled with different games and activities for the children. However, their were moments of tears and silence as families shared their stories of challenges and victories.
After a year of fundraising, planning and dancing, THON broke last years record of over $12.3 million. THON raised over $13.3 million in 2014 and to date has raised over $110 million for The Four Diamonds Fund.
THON has already started planning for next years event and the fundraising will not stop until their is a cure for children’s cancer. Thank you to everyone in Tioga County who has helped THON in anyway continue to be a success.
