Community-Changing Workshop!

by Joe Carreon - March 31, 2014

Today on Home Page we have two guests – Jim Weaver, Planning Director of the Tioga County Planning Commission, and Daniel Strousser, the Wellsboro Borough Manager. They shared with us the importance of the impending comprehensive plan. This plan will affect the borough of Wellsboro and the townships of Duncan, Delmar, and Charleston. This is very important to these communities, as well as the region at large.

A comprehensive plan is an official statement of goals and policies with a long-term vision about the community’s future. It serves as a guide for the Planning Commission, governing body, public agencies, and private individuals and organizations. It also helps in evaluating development proposals that benefit the community. In addition, it focuses on the community’s physical development, as well as its social and economic quality of life.

There are many different components to this comprehensive plan. Some of them are development objectives, housing needs, water supply plan, and a transportation plan.

Citizens of Wellsboro, Charleston, Delmar, and Duncan are invited to give their input into the Multi-Municipal plan. We live in a beautiful, tranquil area. We know the transportation hot spots and the growing pains associated with natural gas development. Help your local leaders preserve our strengths, and protect our children’s futures by giving your well-thought-out opinions on transportation, land use, and growth development.

The workshop will take place on April 3rd, at 6:00pm at the Whitneyville Fairgrounds. Be sure to attend the workshop and let your voice be heard!
