Come to Dickens of a Christmas 2018!

by Sara Vogt - November 30, 2018

The 35th annual Dickens of a Christmas here in Wellsboro is this weekend! Our small community of about 3,000 locals swells to thousands more who come to spend time listening to the choirs, watching the plays, eating great foods, and of course buying from the vendors!

Last year 175 vendors lined the streets of Wellsboro selling various wares, many of them handcrafted and quite unique. Our guest in the studio, Inge Van Vliet, has been a vendor at Dickens for thirty-two years relishing in the opportunity to sell her crafts and meet the people who buy them. Seventy-eight year old Inge is a gifted seamstress who enjoys her German heritage of crafts and creativity. She has an array of products that she sells at her booth which is located this year outside of the restaurant Three Sisters. This list is just some of the items that you will be able to buy from Inge, kitty beds (filled with catnip), squeaky dog toys, colorful scarves, various wreaths, children and adult aprons.

On this broadcast, Inge also took time to express her thoughts on the attitude that we should bring to Dickens. When asked she replied, ” A happy attitude, a positive attitude, be thankful for what you have and enjoy life. Even a little drop of positive is like a ray of sunshine.” If you are needing that encouragement visit Inge at her vendor location and you’ll walk away smiling!

When the founders of Dickens in Wellsboro sat to think and discuss this event 35 years ago they wanted everyone that came to have a Dickens of a good time!

As Tiny Tim says at the end of the Dickens play God bless us, everyone.

If you need the assistance of a seamstress Inge lives here locally and her number is (570) 979-6411‬ and she would be glad to help!
