Child Abuse Prevention Event on the Green
The Green in Wellsboro went blue on Saturday (the 28th) for the “Event in the Green”. This gathering was put on by the Family Services Department of Tioga County. It’s purpose was to raise awareness of child abuse in our area, as well as provide information about child abuse prevention. Family Services has been working diligently throughout the last few weeks, as April is “Child Abuse Prevention Month”, with the color blue dedicated to the cause. The Event on the Green was a perfect way to cap off their busy and effective month!
The event started at 8 am, with a superhero themed 5k run! Many participants dressed up as their favorite superhero characters. Then, vendors and local groups filled the green with activities, information, and fun. Some of the attractions included a petting zoo, bouncy-house slide, free food, and music pumping through the Green. Everything about this event was free to the public, and there were many prizes and treats offered throughout the different tents.
The Family Services Department outdid themselves with this lively, meaningful event! For more information about child abuse prevention, or the great work our Family Services team provides to our county, please visit their website!
