Chamber Highlights – Fun In the Fall

by Amiee Jones - August 29, 2017

The upcoming Fall season holds some exciting events for the Mansfield community to look forward to. As the weather turns and the leaves change, we have some dates to mark on the flipping pages of our calendars. Celebrate the Mansfield’s development through the years at the Heritage Weekend celebration. Then, be sure to join the Trunk or Treat fun for a worry free trick-or-treating experience. Nothing beats community festivities and fun!

“Mansfield Heritage Weekend: 1890’s to present” will take place September 30, with festivities happening from 9am-7pm. Some aspects of the event we can look forward to include a parade, games, contests, shopping, food, and more. The festival is dedicated to recreating the town’s history, and demonstrating the growth and change in our local setting throughout the last 100+ years. And, of course, there will be a reenactment of the first football game played under lights, commemorating the momentous time that electricity came to Mansfield for the first night football game 125 years ago. The celebration will end with a Mansfield home game against Cornell University. This historic and action packed day will include something for everyone, and a great time for all!

Another Fall activity to anticipate is the community Trunk-or-Treat. Taking place in Smythe Park on October 27th, from 5-6, this fun filled hour is a time when families can gather for a safe, controlled trick-or-treating environment. Especially good for your youngsters that aren’t ready for door-to-door, you can walk along with your kiddo’s collecting candy and other goodies. Local business’s and clubs will be setting up stations, putting candy in car trunks, baskets, etc., and giving away treats. So, get your costumes and candy collecting bags, and join the Trunk-or-Treating fun!

More information regarding these events can be found in the link here! There’s plenty of exciting activities to “fall” in to during the upcoming months. Be sure to set aside September 30th and October 27th on your calendars, and take part in the fun times coming up!
